Team's Student Visionaries of the Year Fundraiser
We had the privilege of being nominated as candidates for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) 2025 Kansas Student Visionaries of the Year campaign. Student Visionaries of the Year is a seven-week leadership development program from January 16, 2025 to March 8, 2025, to raise money to help blood cancer patients survive and thrive after treatment. We are writing to you today to ask for your support of our campaign and LLS’s mission to find a cure for blood cancers and improve the quality of life for patients.
We have created a team of committed friends and family to partner with us on this journey. Together, we have set a fundraising goal of $50,000! The money raised helps LLS, the largest nonprofit dedicated to creating a world without blood cancers, fund research to advance lifesaving treatments, drive advocacy for policies that protect patient access to these treatments and provide patients and families with hope, guidance, education and support. Our team is particularly passionate about Patient Support and will represent this area of LLS during our campaign.
We decided to choose Patient Support because of the support our family received when our dad had non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2024. The support from family, friends and people we didn’t even know was amazing. While our family had a great support system when our dad was diagnosed and also during chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments, we realize that not everyone gets that type of support which is why we decided to highlight that.
Our Dad was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma on January 26th, 2024. We were really scared when our dad was diagnosed with cancer because we lost our Nana to another type of cancer when we were little. Seeing our dad go through treatment like what our Nana had to do was really difficult. Our Dad is a fighter, and he was so strong while going through treatment that some days he made you forget what he was dealing with. He was funny and sarcastic but continued to be there for us and stay committed to his work. After months of chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments, we are excited to say that our dad is in remission!! Our campaign will provide support to the critical work of LLS in hopes that one day no one will have to face the challenges that come with a cancer diagnosis. We know that with your help, we can reach our goal and make a direct impact in the fight against blood cancers.
Visionaries look to the future—and see infinite possibility.
They challenge the status quo—and make the impossible possible.
They boldly imagine a better world – and lead the charge to create it.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society was built on that same vision - of a better world - one without blood cancers.
I am a visionary; I have a vision for a world without cancer, but I need your help.
This year, I’m proud to be a part of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign, working to raise as much as possible for LLS’s mission.
As a global leader in the fight against blood cancer, LLS:
- Funds cutting-edge research leading to breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics and personalized medicine that are improving and saving the lives of patients
- Provides free education and support for blood cancer patients and families, including personalized, one-on-one support, assistance with identifying and enrolling in clinical trials, and more.
- Mobilizes thousands of advocates to drive policy changes that accelerate the development of new cancer treatments and break down barriers to care.
Please consider joining this fight by making a donation. All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. Please visit my website often and tell friends who would also like to donate!
Thanks to your support, my efforts will help ensure this generation is the last to see cancer.
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you!
